Since Saturday 26th July, I have been doing quite a bit of soul searching....trying to find answers to questions that we seldom think of as most of our time is taken up by our everyday mundane chores. That day it seemed impossible to find answers to any of my questions...but then sleeping over a certain thing always helps, cuz you never know in what form you may just come across the answer you have been looking for.
Well something similar happened with me also when I woke up the next morning, which was Sunday, the 27th July. I came across an article which more or less answered all my questions. It was a story about King Solomon who had all the pleasures and luxuries that any man in this world could desire or want. Immense wealth, prestige, power etc. were there in his possession, however they could never be a source of complete happiness or peace and eventually wisdom and understanding and knowledge of not just literary subjects, but also of common everyday experiences and situations helped him in grasping the true meaning of life - the essence of humanity....
The essence of being a good human being lies in simple virtues such as compassion, honesty, kindheartedness and harmony. It doesn't mean by adopting these virtues you have to sacrifice your worldly pleasures or you need to renounce your world and head off to the jungles in search of that absolute truth...
Even a simple deed of helping your servant in the kitchen during morning rush hour or not getting angry at your little one when he or she breaks something goes a long way in giving you immense bliss and happiness...But how many of us really follow this...Everyday we receive scores of forwards with some or the other motivational msg,
But how many of us really read it and adhere to it even for a minute.
How many of us try to chip that cynicism and ego that we carry with us in our minds and on our shoulders?
How many of us are willing to make an arse of ourselves a bit just like when we were kids?
How many of us truly have the courage to say something to even to our close ones without any inhibitions?
How many of us take out even five minutes out of our hectic schedules to play pillow fight with our kids?
Today this blog is a result of a forward I had read today morning...in one of Chetan Bhagat's speeches, life is all about igniting that spark....
So let's all ignite that spark which is hidden somewhere deep inside us beneath those layers and layers of cynicism and bitterness...remove those cobwebs from your minds and hearts and let's live a little each day...
Wishing a sparkling day to all of us.
